Friendship Between Nokia & Android

Share
We have started our Android development company at the end of last year. At that time, there were only the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Hero available for purchase. I remember, that we have studied market trends and tried to guess how Android will gain market share in the mobile OS market and which phone manufacturers will use Android. HTC was obvious, Motorola already announced their Android strategy, Samsung was also on the boat and rumors about the Sony X10 came as well.
Somewhere around the beginning of 2010 we've read a rumor that Nokia might adopt Android as a mobile OS and we were just saying, OK if they do it - given the market share of Nokia - then it is an undisputed victory for Andorid for a long time and our fellow developer brothers will soon find themselves in the open source smarthphone Canaan. At that time they did not do it.
Now, almost one year later, Techcrunch came up with an interesting conspiracy theory after thedeparture of Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president in charge of the Mobile Solutions unit followed by Ari Jaaksi, who was heading MeeGo Devices and MeeGo operations. Techcrunch also reports, that Google CEO Eric Schmidt has called Nokia's new CEO, Stephen Elop˛ to discuss the possibility of Android running on Nokia phones. Putting this together it might happen, that Android and Nokia are nearing to each other.
All we can say is go go go...
Nokia's entry to the Android market would be a big milestone for Android, with the possibility to become the clearly leading smartphone operating system.
Nokia is currently is dismissing the speculation, saying that they stay with MeeGo. We are excited to see what will happen.
